An Uber driver is suspected of sexually assaulting a 21-year-previous Wayne State University scholar Thursday night after choosing her up in Midtown Detroit. 

The incident, involving a 29-year-previous man, is thought to not have occurred on campus, Detroit Deputy Police Chief David LeValley stated Friday afternoon. He stated the person turned himself in at about 2 a.m., has no legal historical past and “hasn’t confessed to anything.” 

The experience-hailing service stories it instantly eliminated the suspect’s entry to his account after it was notified of the allegations. 

“What’s been reported to police is horrible and is something no one should ever have to go through,” based on a press release from Uber. 

The suspect picked up the lady at about 5:45 p.m. within the 5000 block of Cass in a Toyota Camry, taking her to an unknown location the place she was sexually assaulted, Detroit police spokesman Dontae Freeman stated.
